Further Experimentation.

‘Sydney Opera House’ 2024 .

Rebecca Lethbridge, ‘Sydney Opera House’ 2024, Pen, acrylic and watercolour on canvas, March 2024, 16 x 20 inches.

This work only combines warm colours together, giving a sense of joy and happiness as one would expect to experience when visiting such a famous opera house. I have also moved away from only using watercolour and pen by experimenting with acrylic paint which I haven’t yet used this year. Whilst I enjoyed exploring this, I found it was harder to create subtle changes in the colours when using acrylic paint, making it more difficult to indicate gradual transitions that are sometimes associated with psychological states. The incorporation of pen is important within my work to highlight some of the details in the silhouette and the architectural structure.

These images show a series of experimentation using photoshop to change the colour of the image. The decision to split the image into four allows each section to represent a different emotion through the use of different colours. The four emotions that are represented in these images are anger, hope, happiness, and calmness, represented by red, green, orange and blue respectively.
