University of Reading Degree
My name is Rebecca Belgie Lethbridge and I am a 23-year-old Hampshire (UK) artist specialising in painting and drawing. In July 2025, I earned a BA in Art and Psychology from the University of Reading. I find inspiration from photos I have captured, my memories and experiences. I work as a teaching assistant alongside running my artist website.
At University my practice initially focused on the natural world, specifically flowers, trees and coastal landscapes, and also explored the portrayal of food in art over the last 60 years. I then focused on buildings, both iconic and those of personal significance. I combined art and psychology by learning about relationships between architecture, colour and effect; considering the impact colour can have on emotional states and wellbeing, and delving into how colours attached to certain memories, emotions, or experiences can enhance the personal significance of buildings. Alongside studying I participated in public exhibitions at The Rising Sun Art Centre (Reading) and collaborated in two publications.
Since graduating I have been longlisted for the VAA Artist of the Year Award (2025, 2026) and Visual Art Open (2025, 2026), shortlisted for VAA500 (2025), featured in Artist Talk Magazine Issue 40 (2025) and obtained a residency at Reading College (2025).
I am a recognised VAA Preferred Artist.
